Make your own ice cream!
Here on the beautiful Gold Coast, Summer likes to arrive early. Even though it is only mid October, we are already starting to see the temperature crawling up the scale. Just the other weekend it was 30 degrees – beautiful!
We thought we would provide a recipe for the best summer treat – ice cream! Making it at home is very fun, albeit messy, experience and easy for the whole family to join in. Then you can indulge in the delicious, cool treat on a warm, sunny day.

Step 1
In a medium bowl combine milk and sugar, and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Stir in the thickened cream and vanilla to taste.
Step 2
Remove the bowl from the freezer, assemble the maker and turn it on. While it’s running, pour the milk and cream mixture into the freezer bowl through the ingredient spout.
Step 3
Let the ice cream machine mix until the mixture thickens – this will take about 25-30 minutes.
Step 4
Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze till it firms. (This is optional. If you prefer your ice cream soft, it can be eaten immediately).
Note! You can make your ice cream either with or without an ice cream maker, however with an ice cream maker it only takes about 25-40 minutes.
